A Lull

After the past few weeks of big work around the house getting ready for our move to Mt. Prospect, there appears to be a bit of a lull.  There are still a few things we have to do (hey there packing…) but right now it’s kind of quiet.

Which means I’ve napped pretty much every day. A Lull | Life Healthfully Lived

In case you didn’t know, napping is the best.  I don’t know why kids fight it.  Sure, they have plenty of toys to play with and things to do, but dude. Just nap for an hour and you can play hardcore when you wake up. A Lull | Life Healthfully Lived

One of my personality traits is that I am a push through kind of person.  Push through pain/stress/fatigue/whatever is going on and just get the thing done.  Sometimes that’s a good trait to have, but it often means I don’t listen to the signals my body is sending me and I end up in a worse position than I started.  Now that I’m older and trying my best to actually be healthy (rather than just look a certain way) I am listening to what my body is telling me.

More often than not, it’s telling me to take it a little easier. A Lull | Life Healthfully Lived

Now, do I always listen and always take the rest?  No.  Sometimes it’s just not feasible.  I’m learning that I can’t beat myself up about every single decision I make.  That’s just exhausting and doesn’t help anyone.  I’m taking every moment as it comes and making the best choice at that time.  That’s all I can ask of myself, right?

This weekend wasn’t entirely spent napping (although I wouldn’t have minded that….), I did do a little work.  Like cleaning paint off all the surfaces my husband decided to drop paint.  I love the man, but he isn’t the best painter.  Oh well, it only took a few hours of scrubbing on my hands and knees to clean everything up… A Lull | Life Healthfully Lived

I also did some touch ups on our paint job and tried to get the rest of the area cleared out.  We are getting down to the wire and I know the next few weeks will be a little nuts.  We have a family wedding in Virginia in a few weekends (which should be super fun) and pretty much right after that it’s time to pack up the apartment and move on to the next chapter.

Oh and if this last stretch of summer heat could make it’s way out of here before we have to haul a crapton of boxes all over kingdom come, that would be fantastic! A Lull | Life Healthfully Lived

How was your weekend?
