On-The-Road-Food

I have some on-the-road food/snack ideas for you today because traveling doesn’t mean you have to eat at the gas station or stop at every fast food place known to man.

With a little careful and simple planning, you can have some healthy things ready for your road trip or a busy day away from home.  You want things that are easily portable, taste good, and don’t necessarily need to be warm or cold.  I know that sounds like a tall order but it can be done! On-The-Road Food | Life Healthfully Lived

Here is what I usually pack when I know I’m going to be away for a little bit.

Rx Bars

If I’m only going to be gone for the day, Rx Bars are a great snack or in a pinch meal replacement.  I like that they’re lower in sugar than Larabars (which are still delicious) and have a good amount of protein.  My favorite flavors are the Chocolate Sea Salt and Coconut Chocolate. On-The-Road Food | Life Healthfully Lived

You could also make your own:  Pumpkin Nut Bars or Cherry Pumpkin Seed Bars

Hardboiled Eggs

Seriously the best travel food ever.  It’s like they were meant to be eaten on the go.

Cut Vegetables

I usually stick with classics like carrots and celery but jicama is a good one to try too.

Fruit

Apples, bananas, oranges, pears, clementines are all really great fruits that travel well.

Nuts & Seeds

I go for raw or dry roasted, I usually can’t find nuts or seeds that are dry roasted with salt at the store, but I don’t mind them without salt.  Try not to choose nuts or seed that are roasted with a ton of oil.

You could also make your own: Roasted Squash Seeds

Nut Butter

I usually always travel with a jar of PB but I also really like little travel packets like this.  They’re a single serving and travel well in purses.  Always a plus. On-The-Road Food | Life Healthfully Lived

You could also make your own: Honey Roasted Almond Butter

Road Trip Snacks

Because what’s a road trip without snacks?  Instead of hitting up the gas station at the next exit, make a few of these before you travel.  Your stomach and your health will thank you!

Pizza Kale Chips

Chili Cheese Popcorn

Banana Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins

Coconut Chips

Fruit Chips

Pumpkin Pie Granola

Chai Green Tea Granola

Roasted Chickpeas

Brownie Bites

Popcorn Clusters

There you have it!  From salty to sweet to crunchy to creamy all your healthy snacks and treats are ready to go when you hit the open road!
