30,000 Steps at Starved Rock

According to my Fitbit, I walked over 30,000 steps on Saturday and let me tell you… I felt it on Sunday.  While every inch of my body might have been tired, it was a good tired.  Camping is always a good kind of tired.  You’re drunk on fresh air and nature, the sun has fueled you the entire day, and technology is far enough away that you don’t feel the constant pull of its various forms.

I really do enjoy our camping trips. 30,000 Steps at Starved Rock | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading

Shingles. It’s Not Just For The Elderly

Have you seen that commercial for shingles?  There is an elderly man that has this horrible rash that is all over his face and he constantly wears a grimace of pain and every one gives him these pitiful looks as he winces his way through life and the commercial.  The commercial leads you to believe, as well as everything else you hear, that shingles is an old people disease.

Yeah.  I found out that isn’t true. How? I got shingles! Shingles. It's Not Just for the Elderly | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading

Happy Mother’s Day

If you’re a mom, Happy Mother’s Day.

If you’re about to be a mom, Happy Mother’s Day.

If you aren’t yet a mom but want to be, Happy Mother’s Day.

If your mom isn’t here but you wish she were, Happy Mother’s Day.

If you’re not sure whether being a mom is for you, Happy Mother’s Day.

If you never had a biological mom in your life but someone who acted like a mom, Happy Mother’s Day.

If you feel a LOT of complicated emotions on this day and don’t know what to do, Happy Mother’s Day.

It’s a happy day, a rough day, a sad day, an exciting day, a fun day, a painful day, and a million other emotions.  So no matter where you are on the “mom” spectrum or how you celebrate, I hope you found peace and happiness in your time yesterday.

And to my mom, I am who I am because of your love, guidance, laughter, rules, and example.  I can’t imagine a better mom for me and I’m so glad I get to call you mine.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Boom. That’s Spaghetti

You know what’s an excellent way to spend your Sunday?  Doing food prep and watching 90’s movies.  Most of which are Disney movies.

I mean, can you really get any better than that?
