Adam and I are currently on our way back home from a wedding in Michigan. It was a beautiful wedding and interesting to see two cultures (Indian and American) come together. I’ve never been to an Indian wedding so I really liked seeing their traditions and how they celebrate. Plus, the weather was great and the farm scenery was awesome.

I seriously dread coming up with names for my recipes. I go back and forth between cutesie adorable names and just straight out saying what the ingredients are. I need to hire one of those nail polish namer people (legit job) and have them start coming up with fun names for my recipe.

As much as I try, summer is coming to an end. Even though I absolutely LOVE the fall, summer is my second favorite. I love not wearing socks or coats or layering my clothes so I don’t freeze to death. I love the light lasting until almost 8 pm. I even love the heat most days minus the lung crushing humidity.
But more importantly, I love summer produce.

You know what I’m really bad at? Taking pictures of things other than food. I either never remember to take pictures while doing other things or feel awkward pulling out my camera in a crowd of people. Which is ridiculous because chances are most of them are taking pictures too.
While this isn’t a huge problem, it does mean I rarely have pictures to show you when I do my posts about my weekend. Which is a bummer because a picture is worth a thousand words or something like that.

I’ve noticed the recipes I keep coming back to are traditionally peasant meals. Kitchari, cabbage rolls, shakshuka, any casserole, and ratatouille. All simple meals with simple ingredients meant to fill and nourish bodies. They aren’t particularly fancy and you won’t see them featured in their traditional forms on high-end menus.
But that doesn’t mean they aren’t delicious and shouldn’t be eaten all the time.
There is something so satisfying by using staple ingredients like tomato sauce or eggs and creating a meal you know makes people happy. Which is exactly what I was looking for in dinner a few weeks ago.
