For some inexplicable reason, this past Cinco de Mayo I had the biggest craving for a gyro. I have no idea why because I can’t remember the last time I had a gyro and I’ve never been a gyro fanatic or anything. But a gyro is what I wanted so I decided to satisfy that desire.

30,000 Steps at Starved Rock
According to my Fitbit, I walked over 30,000 steps on Saturday and let me tell you… I felt it on Sunday. While every inch of my body might have been tired, it was a good tired. Camping is always a good kind of tired. You’re drunk on fresh air and nature, the sun has fueled you the entire day, and technology is far enough away that you don’t feel the constant pull of its various forms.
I really do enjoy our camping trips.

Shingles. It’s Not Just For The Elderly
Have you seen that commercial for shingles? There is an elderly man that has this horrible rash that is all over his face and he constantly wears a grimace of pain and every one gives him these pitiful looks as he winces his way through life and the commercial. The commercial leads you to believe, as well as everything else you hear, that shingles is an old people disease.
Yeah. I found out that isn’t true. How? I got shingles!

Memorial Day 2018
Today is pretty much the unofficial start of summer but it is also so much more. It’s a day to remember the men and women that sacrificed their lives so we can enjoy our freedoms. I know it’s cheesy and cliche but, freedom isn’t really free. I think we all forget that most of the time and Memorial Day is a good time to remember and be grateful to everyone who gave their all.
