This weekend the Buchanan/Dawson/Meyers family is doing something they have never done before.
Going on a road trip.
I actually have many fond memories of going on road trips as a kid. We used to drive all the way to Corinth, Mississippi to visit my grandparents when I was younger. It was a blast. Well, my mom made it a blast. We would stop at places along the way like Reeve’s Boomland (boomland, boomland!), we would play fun road trip games, snack on things like Twizzlers (which we never got at home), and every hour on the hour my mom would give my sister and I some new little toy to play with. It might be mad libs or a new doll, but it was enough to keep us occupied for another hour.
I expect this trip to be pretty much the same. Presents and all.
Although instead of Mississippi we are headed to Virginia for a wedding. I’ve never been to Virginia so I’m excited to see what it’s like. While being in a van for over 12 hours with at least one pregnant person might not be everyone’s idea of fun, I think it could be pretty entertaining. Plus, once we get to Virginia, we’re staying in a yurt! That’s pretty cool, right?
Anyways, because I’ll be on the road Friday through Monday, I’m going to take a little break from the blog. I know I haven’t been as active on here as I have in the past, but that’s just where life is right now. I’m excited for the chance to get a little break from the day to day (including getting ready to move) and for the opportunity to spend some quality time with my family.
I hope that you have a good weekend and I will see you back here next Wednesday. Maybe with a new recipe…
Be safe, have fun and enjoy!! (Virginia is a beautiful state!!)
