What I Ate Wednesday: Husband Edition

I AM SEEING HAMILTON TODAY! I REPEAT, I AM SEEING HAMILTON TODAY!!!!

Ok, now that I’m done shouting from the rooftops, hello!  Today is the day!! Wayyyyyy back in January, Adam gave me one of the best Christmas presents ever and bought tickets to see the musical, Hamilton.  The first available date was July 12th, so I waited.  And waited.  Then waited a little more…. and now the day is here!  Can you tell I’m excited?  I’m sure I’ll tell you all about our day on the blog because of course, you want to know everything.  🙂

But now for the actual reason for this post besides gushing about Hamilton, my husband.  Specifically, what my husband eats.  I thought for this What I Ate Wednesday I would share a day of my husbands eats because he actually eats A LOT differently than I do.  And that’s ok.  We’re two different people with two different needs and two different bodies. What I Ate Wednesday Husband Edition Life Healthfully Lived

While it might seem like I would spend all my time cooking two different meals all the time, I really don’t.  Adam makes his own breakfast every morning, usually has leftovers for lunch, and dinner is the only time I cook separate meals.  Plus, I meal prep a lot of things so dinner I just have to throw a few things together to get a complete meal.

Adam, lover of bread and our cat Dot. And me I guess… 🙂

But enough of me, I’ll let Adam take it away.  All you hubby 😉

Adam:  Hello, folks.  They say “Behind every great woman is a man making silly faces.”  Or maybe that’s just me.  I’m the guy making the silly faces.  In any case, Katie has cajoled bribed threatened asked me to write about the foods that I eat throughout the day.  So, here we go:

Breakfast What I Ate Wednesday: Husband Edition | Life Healthfully Lived

The first thing that you should know about me is I am living proof that man can live on bread alone.  I make and eat a loaf of bread every week.  I must have won the genetics lottery or something.  Other than wolfing down every loaf of bread I can find (and adding a little peanut butter and jam in the morning), I make myself one egg over easy, a bowl of oatmeal with some honey and cinnamon for flavor (because only monsters eat their oatmeal without seasoning), a plum or some other kind of fruit and tea.  Also, I always have water at all times.  I start my day off by chugging out of my 750 mL water bottle and pretty much don’t stop until I go to bed.  All of this lasts me until lunch…

Lunch What I Ate Wednesday: Husband Edition | Life Healthfully Lived

I’m the leftover king.  Lunch always consists of some kind of leftovers, carrots, and an apple.  This week, I had a couple of hamburgers that were leftover from holiday grilling, so those came out of the freezer and had a slice of cheese slapped on ’em.  Easier than going out and spending a ton of money on lunch every week, plus it’s somewhat healthy.

Afternoon Snack #1 What I Ate Wednesday: Husband Edition | Life Healthfully Lived

For whatever reason, I can’t have a snack between breakfast and lunch.  It feels wrong.  So I load up a bunch of snacks in the afternoon.  Snack #1 comes around 2 pm and is a handful of the happiness from the sackful of nuts I keep at my desk that I stick in my specimen cup thing that holds my carrots.

Afternoon Snack #2 What I Ate Wednesday: Husband Edition | Life Healthfully Lived

Snack #2 is the most boring of borings:  a classic hardboiled egg.  One of these around 4 pm will last me through dinner time, so I peel it and eat it while I work.

Dinner What I Ate Wednesday Husband Edition Life Healthfully Lived

Did you all know my wife cooks?  No?  Oh right.  Usually, during the week, Katie comes up with something fun for me to eat on weeknights.  Tonight, it’s taco bolognese, which is a strange sounding hybrid of mexican flavor and pasta.  There’s also a side of steamed veggies and Olive & Tomato Salad (guys, this thing is really really really good.  Go make it).  And don’t forget the bread!

Dessert What I Ate Wednesday Husband Edition Life Healthfully Lived

ICE CREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!  My loving and wonderful wife usually has some kind of dessert for me at the end of a long day of work.  When it’s hot, I usually get something cold.  She’s pretty awesome.

That’s my day!  Significantly different from Katie’s choice of food, but that’s OK!  Everyone has their own lifestyle and diet that works for them.  What are you eating?
