Muhammara with Za’atar Pita Chips

You know what’s really fun?  Listening to your husband try to say fun new words like muhammara and za’atar.  To be fair, it wasn’t until a few days ago that I even read the word muhammara let alone ate it or said it out loud and za’atar is a little funky with that apostrophe.

It’s mu (like in mud) ha (like in hum) mar (like in mark) a (like in uhhh) and za (like the end of pizza) a (this is silent… don’t say it) tar (like the black sticky stuff).

I’m not a linguist folks.  I just like words.  And food.  Always food. Muhammara with Za'atar Pita Chips | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading

Pesto Eggplant Burgers

There are a lot of great recipes for veggie burgers out there.  This one from Minimalist Baker is one of my favorite.  And while I prefer to make my own food rather than get store bought, sometimes I just want to take the easier route and go to the store and get what I want in like two minutes.

Which is the position I found myself in the Monday before the 4th of July. Pesto Eggplant Burgers | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading

Mexican Hot Chocolate Fudgesicles

I don’t think I fully appreciated fudgesicles when I was a kid.  I was more interested in push pops (Flinstone ones, obviously) or root beer flavored popsicles or those rocket pop things.  Or if we were really lucky, mom would come home with drumsticks.  Mmmmm, drumsticks.

What was I talking about?  Right, fudgesicles. Mexican Hot Chocolate Fudgesicles | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading

Mediterranean Zucchini Boats

Does anyone else picture tiny vegetable people riding a river of ranch dressing in a zucchini canoe when they hear zucchini boats?  Just me?  Cool. Mediterranean Zucchini Boats | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading
