4th of July Festivities

It’s weird when the 4th of July lands on a Tuesday.  Your whole week is all wonky.  You lose track of time.  You wonder what day it is when you wake up.  Do I have to work today?  Who knows?

Other than being completely out of it, Adam and I had a great time these past four days.  I always enjoy when he gets time off work and we get to be together 24/7.  Not sure if he feels the same way, but he’s stuck with me so he’ll get over it! 4th of July Festivities | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading

4th of July Dessert Round-Up

Hey there ho there!  Why did I just say that?  Who am I anymore?  Don’t answer that.  I thought I would stop in real quick to give you some dessert ideas for 4th of July because what better way to celebrate our country than with dessert?

We just got back from North Webster yesterday where we celebrated the holiday with Adam’s stepdad’s family and later today we’re headed to Mount Prospect to have a cookout with my parents.  It’s been a busy few days but it’s also been great spending time with my family.  I’ll do a full recap on Wednesday but let’s get on to the real reason you’re here.

Roasted Green Potato Salad

I debated calling this a Roasted Green Monster Potato Salad but what makes it monstrous?  Why do we add weird descriptors like monster to our food?  Does it make us more likely to eat it?  Is it some advertising scheme that a bunch of evil genius’ came up with to take over the world through our food system? If I called it the Roasted Green Monster Potato Salad, would you be more inclined to make the recipe?

These are the important questions I ask myself as I name my recipes.  You’re welcome. Roasted Green Potato Salad | Life Healthfully Lived  Continue reading

What I Ate Wednesday: Camping Edition

I haven’t done a What I Ate Wednesday post in a few months and I thought it would be fun to share a day of camp eats with you!  A lot of people (myself included a few years ago) think that camp food revolves around a few main staples.  Grilled meat, big pots of chili, sandwiches, and s’mores.  Sure, those are all easy and great camping meals, but you can cook SO much more outdoors.  Plus, everything tastes just a little better when it’s kissed by a smoky campfire. What I Ate Wednesday: Camping Edition | Life Healthfully Lived Continue reading
