Be prepared for a lot of pictures. Because I actually took some pictures this trip. Not quite as many as say my mother ( 🙂 ), but I managed to get a good handful.
Last weekend, my family road tripped to Virginia for a wedding. It was the first time in Virginia for all of us and it was the first time we had all driven in a car together for over 10 hours. I’m happy to report that overall the trip was a huge success and we are excited to do another family vacation again in the future.

We clean up pretty good
One of the really fun things about this trip is that our Airbnb was a yurt. If you have no clue what a yurt is, don’t worry because we didn’t either. Think of it as a very fancy tent/teepee. So fancy that it has running water, electricity, and heat. At least ours did.

The back of the big yurt, there was a deck out here too that looked into the woods.

The little yurt attached to the big one. This is where Adam and I stayed. It was VERY nice.
We loved staying in the yurt but we did not love finding the yurt. It was in the blue ridge mountains and kind of off the beaten path. Our GPS got us to the location but when we got there we saw nothing and assumed the GPS was wrong. So we kept going and quickly realized our horrible mistake about the time we almost fell off the mountain.
Let’s just say traveling with 6 people and all their luggage in a minivan on a gravel maintenance road when it’s recently rained isn’t our idea of fun.

View from underneath the loft.

Reading nook near the loft. If I lived in this yurt this is where I would spend the majority of my time.

Kitchen area. Which was bigger than my Chicago apartment kitchen.

View of the very top of the yurt. I love the pattern of the wooden beams!
After some scary moments and frustrated searching, we finally found our yurt. The rest of the trip was amazing and we got to enjoy the beauty of the mountains, quality family time, and some fun in Roanoke. I’m ready for our next adventure.

The Roanoke star. It looks out over the downtown area and has a little camera on it that broadcasts online.

I kind of love him 🙂

Love him too
